Nov. 27, 2018 - Clarivate Analytics, the global leader in providing trusted insights and analytics to enable researchers to accelerate discovery, published its annual Highly Cited Researchers (HCR) list which included more than 4000 Highly Cited Researchers in 21 fields of the sciences and social sciences. Dr. Jun Wang, the founder and CEO of iCarbonX, was selected for the fifth consecutive year.
The citation analysis identifies influential researchers as determined by their peers around the globe - those who have consistently won recognition in the form of high citation counts over a decade. The Web of Science serves as the basis for the regular listings of researchers whose citation records position them in the top 1% by citations for their field and year. This year’s list includes 17 Nobel laureates, including two announced this year.
With interdisciplinary academic excellence in the fields of mathematical statistics, computer science and biology which he has been developing since joining the Human Genome Project in 1999, Dr. Jun Wang has made successful achievements in many cutting-edge areas, such as the association of gut flora and complex diseases, human genetics research, single-cell cancer genome research, and the development of advanced bioinformatics tools. Accordingly, a number of pioneering and original scientific achievements with significant international influence have been yield.
Up to date, Dr. Jun Wang has published 422 academic papers, of which 406 have been totally cited more than 90,000 times, while more than 225 times of average citations per paper. His academic article about internal microbial communities published in Nature magazine in 2010, was listed one of the “Insights of the Decade & Breakthrough of the Year, 2011” by Science magazine.
The methodology that determines the who's who of high-impact researchers draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts from the Institute of Scientific Information at Clarivate Analytics. It uses Essential Science Indicators, a unique compilation of science performance metrics and trend data based on scholarly paper publication counts and citation data from the Web of Science, the premier web-based environment of scientific and scholarly research literature totaling over 33,000 journals.
